Chinese New Year. The holiday which everyone is waiting for. Yesterday was Chinese New Year Eve and it was the time whereby my whole family gathers and have a big feast together. In dinner there was a wide variety of food consisting of sushi, sashimi, steamboat dishes like raw meat and vegetables. Before dinner started, all of us were ravenous. At about six o'clock in the night, my family of seven people started to tuck in and eat the steamboat dinner. However, by the end of the dinner, all of our stomachs were almost bloated as there were too much food to finish. However, I still enjoyed eating the delectable Japanese sushi and sashimi. Its cold sensation when you put them in your mouth is something I will never forget.
After dinner, four of us, compromising my brother, aunt, grandfather and I, started in a "friendly" game of mahjong which did not involve any money. My grandfather, as expected, won most of the games as he was smart enough in knowing what cards we wanted in order to win. Fortunately, I came in second winning four games as I had a lucky spell of drawing useful cards. In the contrary, my brother and aunt only won a game each hence he was sulking after we had finished playing. As the start of Chinese New Year is arriving, my new year resolution is for everyone to be healthy and hope all families will be able to survive the financial crisis. As I am just a student, I only can help my parents to save money to relieve their financial burden.

I spent the whole day playing the guitar in different ways if you know what i mean. I practised on my acoustic guitar for an hour and played many cool and catchy songs. By the way, I have learnt guitar for about a year already, hence I am now learning many new songs to improve my skills and the speed of my fingers. Among all the songs I played today, my favourite song is I'm Yours by Jason Mraz and Thunder by Boys Like Girls. Although the tunes are simple, the way the singers sing the songs are filled with emotion and the arrangement of the background music is very effective. However, I have the work on strumming bar chords and training on my finger strength so that I can hold the notes down. After playing on my guitar, I switched to the "fake one".
What do i mean? I mean that I played the game"Guitar Hero World Tour" on my Nintendo Wii. It is a simulation and it seems like you are playing the notes in the song. This game is in my opinion, the best game ever as you can play guitar, drums, bass and sing-creating a full band. The guitar has only five buttons but the notes are still hard to hit at expert difficulty when its extremely fast. Since I was the only one at home after school, I played the guitar and "performed many rock songs which made me have a whale of a time. I really felt like a real rock star, performing on stage, rocking on the guitar and playing tricky solos. As this game, which is very expensive, is bought by my father, I will work hard on my studies and not disappoint him as he always spends his hard-earned money on rewarding me.

This week in school, I have a lot of deadlines to meet due to increasing number of projects. I have to do English, Design and Technology and Maths projects at the same time hence I cannot arrange time to play and must plan my time carefully. However today, I had another difficulty which was to decorate the class. As I am the welfare monitor, I was in charge of gathering people to decorate the class but had no time to do so because I was busy with homework. Today was the last day to decorate the class.
Hence, six of my classmates and I, stayed back after school to decorate the classroom which was extremely plain. However, all my energy was drained by the end of the day. We were rushed for time because by tomorrow we had to get the classroom in the festive mood for the judges to come and grade our classroom. I brought tape, scissors, coloured paper and red packets however, there were not enough ornaments to fill the whole class. In dire straits, my friend, rushed at his fastest speed to Parkway Parade to buy Chinese new year decorations and other necessities while I and the others made use of what we had to fill up the back of the classroom. At about 4.30 p.m, my friend returned in time for us to hang what he bought. We finally finished everything at 5.30p.m. and we were so exhausted we almost could not walk. He was our saviour for the day and if not for him, we would not be able to finish decorating the class in time.

My parents, brother and I went out for the whole day and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, only until dinner. In the afternoon, we watched the movie "Ip Man" at Vivo City. It was extremely exciting as the fighting scenes were entertaining. The movie also shows Ip's persistent devotion and I learnt many things from the movie.
Soon, we proceeded to even more shopping for shirts, shoes, accessories and other miscellaneous things.
After two hours an exhausting walk around Vivo City, we returned back home to have a good rest. In the night, we went out again to East Coast Park to take our dinner. The restaurant we entered was "Mingles" and I found the price of the food reasonable, given the quality of the food. We sat outside the restaurant and waited for my food. My father's appetite was extremely big as he polished off his food when I just got my food. However, suddenly, a stout man with a ponytail rode his bicycle past us and shouted vulgar and obscene words at us.
After hearing that, we were boiling with fury and my mother alerted a burly waiter. He managed to chase the mentally unsound man away in a minute. My father was raging mad and more infuriated than us. He even said that he will resort to violence if he came and insulted us again even though he was just kidding. All thanks to the waiter, we could eat in peace although we lost most of our appetite. In my own opinion, I think the insane man should be sent to the mental hospital so as to not disturb the customers eating in the row of restaurants.
Before we left the restaurant, my family and I commended the waiter for his reaction to the incident. After dinner, I felt shivers down my spine when thinking back about what happened. I was afraid that we would meet the man who would harass us again but fortunately, we did not see him . I will never forget this unforgettable and unusual incident.

Today, I woke up early in the morning to go for my co-curricular activity, table-tennis. When I reached school, a searing ray of light shone at me as I skipped towards the school hall. In the hall, I saw three of my friends who reached school much earlier than me even though I was not late. I instantaneously grabbed my bat from my bag and started playing with one of my friends who did not have a playing partner. Surprisingly, my strokes were pretty accurate and I felt that my smacks possess a lot of power. Moreover, my friend taught me a new serve which has a lot of spin and thanks to him, I can gain points more easily.

After training for two and a half hours, the whole table-tennis team went to the school field to play soccer. We had a whale of a time even though we were exhausted after running across the school field. My team triumphed and I even scored a goal. There was a counter attack during a goal kick and we had many people up front. Fortunately, I managed to get the ball ,maintained my composure during pressure from the opposition's defence and slotted the ball in the goal with my left foot.

After playing soccer, some of my friends and I adjourned to the canteen for some snacks and refreshments. Soon, we went back home by bus. I still had Chinese tuition in the afternoon! Today was definitely an enjoyable day filled with sports-related activities.
